New Trailers & Updates for Upcoming films in 2015

There are plenty of familiar aspects to be found in the first trailer for Terminator Genisys, but what exactly is going on in this fifth Terminator feature is a little unclear. Jason Clarke plays John Connor (a role played previously by Edward Furlong, Nick Stahl, and Christian Bale), the leader of the resistance who sends Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney in a role originated by Michael Biehn and later filled by Anton Yelchin) back in time to save his mother, Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke steps in for Linda Hamilton). However, when Reese arrives this time, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator is on Sarah Connor’s side, and she gets to say “Come with me if you want to live,” while Schwarzenegger gets to drop one more “I’ll be back.” Written by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier and directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World), and also starring Matt Smith, Byung-Hun Lee, Courtney B. Vance, Sandrine Holt, and J.K. Simmons, Terminator Genisys heads to theatyrs on July 1, 2015.

‘Avengers 2: Age of Ultron’: New Iron Man Armor Revealed

The action-heavy trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron had a lot of things to get excited about, not the least of which was Iron Man donning his Hulkbuster armor and getting into a very public brawl with the Hulk. Tony Stark’s other new suit of armor – the Mark XLIII – was also briefly glimpsed, but only in a head-and-shoulders shot from behind and a brief glimpse of it disappearing beneath its Hulkbuster exoskeleton.

During his four appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far, Tony Stark has created an impressive number of Iron Man suits – 42, to be exact – developing the technology to the point where some of the suits can be piloted remotely. This technology is closely tied to the plot of The Avengers: Age of Ultron, since the main villain is a robot of Tony’s design that goes rogue.

The first detailed look at the Mk. XLIII armor comes from Hot Toys’ Facebook reveal of the new “movie-accurate” collectible figurine, shown in the images below from various angles and in different positions. The color scheme looks like a reversal of the Mk. XLII: predominantly red but with a gold faceplate and bits of gold plating around the rest of the suit. Another new figurine is the Ultron Mk. 1, shown in a very damaged form but with clear echoes of the basic Iron Man suit design in it.

The collectible figurines will be available for pre-order soon, and although there’s no price listed yet they can be expected to sell for at least a couple of hundred dollars each. It’s possible that the Mk. XLIII and the Hulkbuster armor will be joined by more new Iron Man suits in the movie, and we’ve already seen that Ultron will appear in a variety of forms.

The insane, malevolent robot is voiced by James Spader, and J.A.R.V.I.S. voice actor Paul Bettany is also getting an upgrade in Avengers: Age of Ultron as he becomes the voice of android and new Avengers member, Vision. The other new superheroes joining the team are Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, played by Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who were first introduced in a post-credits scene for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

‘Avengers 2’ & ’Guardians of the Galaxy’ Crossover

Although Guardians of the Galaxy seemed like a risky property at the beginning of 2014, the film became one of the top grossing movies of the year and the third most financially successful Marvel Studios feature. Despite its independent success though, many fans have speculated about how Guardians will tie into the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s larger story – especially the developing Infinity War.

Even before his film released, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn was routinely questioned about a possible team up or crossover between his heroes and The Avengers. However, in recent interviews, the director stressed that the Avengers and the Guardians exist in two different corners of the MCU – the Avengers on Earth and the Guardians in the rest of the galaxy. Additionally, Gunn stated that Guardians and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 are not “a prequel to Avengers 3 and 4.”

Now, Gunn has taken to Facebook to clarify some of his recent comments in regard to the possible Guardians/Avengers team up. Gunn’s post was in response to articles that took his comments as black and white statements: specifically that he had either confirmed a Guardians and Avengers crossover or that the team up would never happen.

The director explained in broad strokes why he has spoken so vaguely on the topic.

It comes down to this: Gunn doesn’t have the final say on whether or not the Guardians will appear in The Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1, Part 2, or somewhere else down the line. As we’ve seen with previous instances, directors of Marvel movies have creative license to a certain extent, but each film must inevitably fit within Marvel Studios’ plan for the MCU.

Ever since he was first announced for Guardians, Gunn has applauded President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige’s approach and execution of the shared cinematic universe. But, as a director working within the MCU, Gunn is more focused on his own films: Guardians, Guardians 2, as well as – if it happens and he’s chosen to direct it – Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

Whether or not the Guardians appear in a film with the Avengers or in either Infinity War: Part 1 or Part 2 remains to be seen. Additionally, unless the Avengers are going to appear in one of the Guardians films, the announcement of a team up will likely come from a direct announcement – similar to Marvel’s Phase 3 event.

‘The Avengers 2′ Extended Trailer

Three weeks ago the marketing campaign for The Avengers: Age of Ultron officially began. Comic-Con teasers, concept art and a few photos aside, the first public look at the sequel to 2012′s record-breaking The Avengers came with the trailer that leaked early in October (read our in-depth analysis of it here).

Marvel quickly responded by releasing the official version and followed it up with an additional footage that aired during Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC a week later. That same day, Marvel Studios held an event on Los Angeles where they played even more footage of The Avengers 2 on top of announcing their upcoming slate of films that comprise Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After the main trailer released, an extended version gave fans a better look at the team dressed in casual attire, hanging out in Avengers Tower (previously Stark Tower), taking turns attempting to lift Thor’s hammer. A second extended trailer has surfaced online since and while it follows a nearly identical structure to the original, it includes several additional shots.

The intro in this version is extended and we get a tad more of Ultron’s party-crashing speech, including a clear look at new character Claudia Kim, the team’s doctor. There are also a few new shots of Hawkeye and Black Widow, other team members, and one of Iron Man blasting a few enemy soldiers. The most notable addition however, is the extra few seconds of Ultron which show that he’s not alone when he’s making his intentions clear and first attacking The Avengers, as a pair of Ultron suits bust through the wall behind him.
